Michael J. Sakamoto, M.D.

Michael James Sakamoto, M.D was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan where his father worked for the U.S.A.F. He attended the University of Redlands where he earned his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees. He went on to graduate school on an NIH fellowship to study Molecular Biology at Tufts University and Immunology at the University of Pennsylvania. Turning his attention to medicine took him to UCLA, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Pacific Presbyterian Hospital in San Francisco and a residency and chief residency in Ophthalmology at Yale-New Haven Hospital. This was followed by a Shaffer fellowship in Glaucoma at UCSF.

Specializations

In 1991 Dr. Sakamoto moved to the Central Valley, where he practices Ophthalmology with a specialty in glaucoma in Sacramento and Modesto.

About Dr. Sakamoto

Dr. Sakamoto is board certified in Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma society. He enjoys spending time with his family and counts foreign travel, swimming, cooking, and following his beloved Dodgers as hobbies.
